Moving day runs far more smoothly when your home is ready before the truck arrives. Here's a simple room-by-room approach to get there.

Kitchen

Pack everything except what you'll need for the final few meals. Empty and defrost the fridge at least 24 hours in advance.

Bedrooms

Pack out-of-season clothing first, leaving only what you'll wear until moving day. Disassemble bed frames the night before if your movers aren't handling that for you.

Living areas
